OK, you 13 year old mover and shaker you! You actually have a lot of options, but first you need to watch out for the scammers out there including the multi level marketers and work at home scams where you must make an ‘investment’ in order to get some work.
Consider babysitting, yard work or odd jobs for neighbors or relatives. How about working for your own family? Other ideas include collecting items for recycling and cashing in the money (aluminum cans, bottles, etc)
Whatever you decide make sure to get permission from parents and ALWAYS let them know where you are going and when you expect to come back. and stay safe, don’t get involved with strangers or people you cannot trust. Do NOT get into a car with someone you don’t know very well, even other teens.

He is ready to buy the cart but is a little hesitant. Can he make good money? Should he do the coffee/hot dog combo or just hot dogs?… What licenses does he need for CA? Insurance? Thanks bah bah bah. I needed advice from someone that has done it. I know how to write a business plans and figure the costs vs. expense; I just wasnt’ sure about the idea. I am not going in business with him. I am just helping him along the way and the idea is a good fit for him. Thanks everyone!
I was about to say the best advice I can give him is not to sell hotdogs, but then again what do I know? Hot dogs are cheap and easy to make. But coffee and hot dogs (IMO) is a pretty strange combo, maybe hotdogs and lemonade. Or maybe he should sell breakfast items and coffee from a cart and go to the nearest financial district if he lives near a big city, those people are always in a hurry. The only thing I see about this being REALLY bad is having to stand around all day rain or shine, warm or cold. If he’s not out there, he’s not making money, but that’s sales.
